Course Description

SCAT (School and College Ability Test) Course Description

The School and College Ability Test (SCAT), administered by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY), is a standardized multiple-choice test designed to identify gifted and talented students. The SCAT is an above-grade-level exam that evaluates a student's math and verbal reasoning abilities. Test scores remain valid until students transition to the next testing level.

SCAT Levels:

  • Elementary SCAT: Designed for 4th-6th grade material, taken by 2nd and 3rd graders, scored in comparison to 4th and 5th graders.
  • Intermediate SCAT: Designed for 6th-9th grade material, taken by 4th and 5th graders, scored in comparison to 6th-9th graders.
  • Advanced SCAT: Designed for 9th-12th grade material, taken by 6th-8th graders, scored in comparison to 9th-12th graders.

SCAT Subject Areas:

  • Verbal Reasoning: Measures a student’s vocabulary, logical reasoning, and ability to understand word relationships and analogies.
  • Quantitative Reasoning: Evaluates mathematical problem-solving skills and understanding of numerical relationships, without requiring advanced calculations.

Our expert tutors provide personalized support to help students build the reasoning skills required to excel in the SCAT. With focused preparation, students will confidently tackle above-grade-level challenges.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
