Course Description

Year 3 Course Description:

In Year 3, students engage with a dynamic curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in core academic subjects, while encouraging critical thinking and independent learning. The subjects covered in Year 3 include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education (HPE), and The Arts.

  • English: Students enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. They learn to read a variety of texts with increasing fluency and comprehension, and develop skills to write creatively and informatively.

  • Mathematics: The focus is on developing skills in number and algebra, measurement, geometry, and statistics and probability. Students apply these concepts to solve problems in real-life contexts.

  • Science: Students explore the concepts of physical, chemical, and biological sciences, focusing on the world around them. They conduct experiments, make observations, and learn about the importance of scientific inquiry.

  • HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences): Students explore history, geography, civics, and citizenship. They learn about the past and present, develop an understanding of society and cultures, and engage with global issues.

  • Health and Physical Education (HPE): This subject promotes physical activity, health and wellbeing, and develops students' skills in teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal health management.

  • The Arts: Students explore visual arts, music, drama, and dance, encouraging creativity and expression through various mediums and performances.

Course Outcomes

By the end of Year 3, students will demonstrate improved literacy and numeracy skills, including the ability to interpret and create texts, solve mathematical problems, and explore scientific concepts.
